Top 10 Best Online Multiplayer Virtual Reality Games

There are a lot of different VR games out there to choose from, so I made a list of the top ten multiplayer online games. These are the ultimate games to play with friends and others.

Continue reading to get full details on each of the games to see which is best for you and your friends!

1: Rec Room

I absolutely love Rec Room. It is 100% free right now, and that means a lot.

Multiplayer Interaction

In Rec Room, you have the choice of playing countless developer and player-made game modes and adventures. There are so many different things to do and ways to meet people. I once played frisbee golf with a 35-year-old guy in a different country, and we chatted about the potential of virtual reality. Really cool interaction.

It is pretty rare that a virtual reality game does multiplayer right, but this game really nails it.

With the ability to customize your character, Rec Room makes you feel like you are in a room full of independent people, and not random computers.

Something that the developers of rec room have done that really makes this game stand out is the facial expression part of things. The game senses the tone in your voice and makes your character express your emotions really well. If I am excited, then my character looks excited based on the fluctuations in my voice! How cool is that?

Overall Quality

Rec Room is really simple, but the potential is limitless. There is so much to do! You can play anything from paintball to role play.

My brother and I don’t see each other much since he lives across the country, but when we want to chat or hang out, we usually play some rec room and chill. It says a lot that out of all the games that I own, it is this one that ends up getting played the most.

Is it worth it?

Rec Room is 100% free, so please go download it. You will not regret spending the few minutes it takes to download it and set up your character.

2: Pavlov VR

Pavlov is a great game. Imagine Call of Duty in VR and that is pavlov.f

Multiplayer Interaction

Pavlov is pretty simple in terms of multiplayer interaction. It has about the same level of interaction that Paintball in real life has.

There can be a lot of team-building exercises or there can be almost none depending on the game mode.

If you are playing the gun game or free for all, then this game has almost no interaction. You can hear people that are close to you, but other than that you don’t talk much.

In team-based game modes like search and destroy or team deathmatch, you will be coordinating with your team a lot. These interactions are really awesome because it is basic teamwork. If your team works together, then you will win. If you do not work together then you will fail.

Overall Quality

The quality of Pavlov actually falls in how simple the game is. The options are really limited as to what you can do, but everything that you can do is done really well.

All of the guns have different ways to reload and reload speed is a factor in competition and adds a lot to the reality of the game.

Is it worth it?

In my opinion, this game is well worth the 10 dollars. It is in early access, so chances are that the prices are going to increase. I think this game has a lot of space to grow, and therefore it is more of an investment.

3: Arizona Sunshine

Multiplayer Interaction

Arizona Sunshine is a zombie game and is mainly focused on the singleplayer campaign. That being said, the co-op campaign as well as “Horde Mode” are super fun in multiplayer. In order to succeed, you need to communicate about who has ammunition and who is in trouble.

Overall Quality

I think this game is actually one of the highest quality virtual reality experiences out there. The progression is really great and well polished. The campaign is fairly long and will generate hours of fun.

Is it worth it?

This game is one of the most expensive games on this list. It costs 40 bucks right now on steam, but in all honesty, it is well worth it.

I have personally bought this game twice because of my desire to play with my friends. I recommend this game for sure.

4: The Last Player: VR Battle Royale

Multiplayer Interaction

The interaction in this game is very limited. Much like playing PUBG or Fortnite in solo mode, you don’t interact much with other players unless you are trying to elminate them.

Overall Quality

Ever since the hype about battle royals began with Fortnite, they have been popping up all over. This is the VR version of a battle royal, and in all honesty, there is nothing special or new about it.

The greatest asset that this game has is that it is a battle royal in VR. If you love battle royal games and you love VR, then this is the game for you.

Is it worth it?

This game is only 20 dollars on steam right now, which is not too bad.

If you are interested in this type of thing, then definitely invest. If you are just looking for a VR shooter, then I might pass and get something a little more immersive.

5: OrbusVR: Reborn

Multiplayer Interaction

If you played an MMORPG as a kid, then you understand the exact type of interaction in this game.

You can be on your own, you can talk to other people, you can do whatever you want really.

That’s the beauty of MMORPG’s. There is so much out there to play and do!

Overall Quality

This game is in the early stages of development, but it is currently the only MMORPG in VR. That is special!

It is relatively simple, but there is a lot of potential here. The art style is simple but effective in making things fun. There are plenty of options as to what you can do, and therefore hours of fun to have in this game.

Is it worth it?

This game is a little pricey at 40 dollars, but right now you can go download the demo for free!

The demo is fairly long, and actually gives you a lot of access to the game. I would say you should download the demo for free and see if this is your cup of tea.

6: The Forest

Multiplayer Interaction

Many people are huge fans of the forest and for good reason. The interactions in this game can be absolutely hilarious, and with the freedom that comes with survival games.

You can play coop or meet random strangers. You decide!

Overall Quality

Since this is a game that is ported from a normal game into a VR game, it is not going to be the same level of quality that a game that was designed around.

That being said, the forest is super fun and well made. Watch some videos and see if it meets your requirements for a survival-based multiplayer game.

Is it worth it?

The forest is relatively inexpensive at 20 dollars, but I wouldn’t invest unless you have some friends that are willing to play with you. They don’t need VR to play so maybe buy them a copy?

7: Elite Dangerous

Multiplayer Interaction

Imagine being on a team of space fighter pilots, and that is elite dangerous. Pretty simple.

Overall Quality

This game is the best space flight simulator/spaceship shooter out there. There are so many people that rant and rave about how fun it is, and as you can see the art style and design is phenomenal.

I honestly cannot recommend this game enough. It might be a little hard on you in VR if you are prone to motion sickness, but man is it cool.

Is it worth it?

Elite dangerous is a pretty big game, and that is shown in its price. Although it only costs 30 dollars, there are plenty of other DLC that you can buy in order to play different aspects of the game.

I would buy this game if it interested you outside of VR. It is pretty and well designed, but this type of thing isn’t for everybody.

8: Raw Data

Multiplayer Interaction

Raw data is a game about fighting evil robots with your friends. It is fairly simple to learn and loads of fun when you get the hang of it.

There are a huge variety of enemies and that causes plenty of situations where you need to work as a team. If you ever played games like resident evil in an arcade back in the day, it is very similar to that.

Overall Quality

I think that this game needs some work, but it is still a great game.

The creators even say that it is not a complete game yet, and that it is more of a tech demo.

Is it worth it?

At 40 dollars, this game feels a little overpriced. It doesn’t feel fleshed out enough to warrant the high cost.

Although it is one of my favorite games to play with friends, it has a lot of room to grow and therefore a lot of potential in the future. Either get it now or wait for more content to come out, this game will be awesome.

9: Skyfront VR

Multiplayer Interaction

This game is a simple shooter, but with a twist; everything happens in zero gravity.

The interaction in this game reminds me of playing halo one the original Xbox. Lots of yelling at each other in good fun!

Overall Quality

This game is really simple, but it is super fun. There are plenty of different weapons to choose from that will keep you busy!

Is it worth it?

This game is really cheap and really awesome. It only costs 10 bucks but it is hours of fun.

Go pick it up, you will not regret it.

10: Project Cars 2

Multiplayer Interaction

I have always loved racing games, and VR makes them so much better.

Racing other people is much harder than racing computers, so this game is quite the challenge.

Overall Quality

This is the second game in the series, and it has really improved. The goal of the developers was to make an end all be all type of racing game.

This is really high-quality experience in terms of racing.

Is it worth it?

If you are like me and played a lot of racing games as a kid, then this is a great purchase. It is 60 bucks though, which is pretty expensive. It is a great game, but it is a bit of an investment.
